On the early morning of February 12th, 2024, Mario C. Carbo passed away peacefully surrounded by his two loving daughters at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Mario was 85 years old. He is survived by his wife, Jane Carbo.
Mario was born on August 30th, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of Salvatore and Constance Carbo. He was the middle son of three children, Joseph the eldest, then Mario, and then the youngest Victor. Mario cherished and honored his parents while they were alive, visiting them often, and eventually inviting his mother to live with him and his wife. Mario has two children. The eldest being Constance “Connie”, who is married to Lenny Hahn and the youngest being Lisa, who is married to Gordon Pickel.
Mario had shared his life with Jane for 40 years. They were inseparable. Welcoming Jane into his life also meant welcoming her loving daughter, Michelle, and her now husband Pete.
Mario had a multitude of hobbies that varied in range. Mario was an avid reader, digesting at least 2-3 books a week.  He relished reading an actual book and was not interested in digital texts.  He visited the library once a week. He believed in being healthy and worked out in a gym three days a week, lifting weights and working out on the machines.  He tried to eat healthy and enjoyed cooking.  For his 85th birthday celebration, he told us he was purchasing the cake and surprised us with one cupcake to share!   He was a collector of guns that were securely kept in a safe. He relished in his freedom to use them safely at the range.  He was a huge lover of the outdoors, nature, and all animals. He would never hurt an animal and was never a hunter. He loved the regular visits from flocks of turkeys, herds of deer and bears exploring his property.  He ensured it was a place they could roam and enjoyed watching them.  His favorite was photographing the bears that visited his deck!
Mario and Jane purchased a house in Pennsylvania that had a heated sunroom. Mario and Jane cared for stray cats and would never leave for more than a day to ensure the cats well-being.  That meant no vacations! The cats would come and go during the day exploring the beautiful forest and Pennsylvania mountains. A fan favorite will always be Jacob, the one-eyed cat.
Mario has 5 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren from his two daughters and one step-daughter. From Connie, he had three grandchildren, Richard, Steven, and Daniel and three step-grandchildren, Matthew, David and Melanie. From Lisa, he had two grandchildren, Jessica and Victoria. From Michelle, he had two step-grandchildren, Caroline and Alex.
Mario was a wonderful and happy man with a contagious laugh. He had so much love to give and everyone that knew him felt it. He will be missed by all  who knew him.
