With gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the memory of Harry

J. Schwagerl, who passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Lynbrook, NY

at the age of 95.

Born on January 15, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to Harry and Irene Schwagerl,

Harry led a life dedicated to family, service, and community. After

graduating from Lehman High School, he proudly served in the United

States Navy Reserve before beginning a remarkable 40-year career at

Con Edison, where he rose from Lineman to Supervisor of Emergency Services for all of

Brooklyn.

Harry’s devotion to his faith and community was evident through his

lifelong involvement in St. Raymond’s Church, where he served as a

Eucharistic Minister and Co-Director of the St. Raymond’s Art Club.
He was a proud 4th Degree Knight at St. Raymond’s Knights of Columbus

and a dedicated Cub Scout leader for Troop 332 for many years.

Above all, Harry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was

married to the love of his life, Patricia Schwagerl, for 71 wonderful

years.  Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their

children, John (Tedi) Schwagerl, Brian (Eileen) Schwagerl, Ann-Marie

Farrell, and Chrisanne (James) Hammill. He cherished his beloved

grandchildren: Caitlin Christopher (Schwagerl) Mary and Isabel

Schwagerl, Catherine and Joseph Farrell, Jr.

Harry was also a passionate artist, finding joy in charcoal drawing, watercolor,
pastels, and portrait work. His talent reflected his creativity and deep appreciation
for the beauty in people and life.

Harry was preceded in death by his brothers Desmond and Franklin, his

sister, Irene McNamara and his son-in-law, Joseph Farrell.

A mass celebrating Harry’s life will be held at St. Raymond’s Church

in East Rockaway, NY, on Saturday, April 5, 2025. In lieu of flowers,

the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s

Association.

Harry will be remembered with love and admiration by all who knew him.

His legacy of kindness, dedication, and service will continue to

inspire those whose lives he touched.
