Anton Giese, 94, of Lynbrook, New York, joined the angels in heaven on March 10, 2021. Anton, or Tony as he was affectionately known, was born in Kreuzberg, Germany in 1926. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Gisela Kahlke, and would ride his bicycle 50 miles each way to visit her during their courtship. In 1953, Tony and Gigi began their 68-year journey together when they were married in Plettenberg, Germany. Two years later, the couple immigrated to America with one child in tow and another on the way. They ultimately settled in Lynbrook, New York, and raised five children, Michael (Julie), Maria (Doug), Thomas (Paulette), Elizabeth (John), and Christopher (Barbara). A man of many diverse talents and skills, Tony worked as a machinist for Peerless Machine Works, followed by Eastern Airlines in aircraft service here in the states. He could often be found tinkering in his beloved garage making something incredible out of virtually nothing. He was known far and wide for coining the phrase, “Don’t worry about it, might happen anyway.” Tony is survived by his beautiful wife, Gigi, his five loving children, fourteen adoring grandchildren, eight great grandchildren (with two more on the way), his sisters, Gretel Neugebauer (Horst) and Ursula Chiulli (Carlo), his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Marianne Kahlke, and many nieces and nephews. He lived a life of honor, respect, family, and faith, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all friends raise a glass of Jagermeister in Tony’s memory. Prost!
